IN OTHER WORDS
Aerialist extraordinaire Josh Kerr has been a major blip on high performance surfing's radar for the past several years. Bred in the wave laden beaches of Australia's Gold Coast, the phenomenal natural footer spent several years sparring with current Dream Tour thoroughbreds Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson and Dean Morrison while more or less under the radar competitively. Opting to go the road less travelled, a teenage Kerr chose to focus on the then burgeoning air show circuit rather than the Australasian Pro Junior series, quickly climbing the ranks and garnering the moniker of "world air show champion" within a short time. However, Josh's multi faceted surfing would prove too big for the air shows and it wasn't long before he set his sights on professional surfing's ultimate benchmark, the Foster's ASP World Tour. Although set back by a horrific hit and run accident in 2002, Kerrsy clawed his way back to form and attacked the WQS over the next few seasons. In 2006, the 22 year old smashed his way to an 8th place finish on the Grind, easily qualifying for this season's elite tour. Brimming with confidence and saturated with talent, look for Kerr to put the top 45 on notice straight out of the gates this season.
